Spinning Top Design: Dancing Swan
Modeled and rendered in Rhino. I designed a spinning top based on the likeness of a swan and the designs of Japanese hand guards - the same silhouettes that inspired the designs of the Greene brothers architects.
The base of the spinning top was based off of "tsuba" designs. A tsuba is the hand guard mounted onto Japanese swords. Integrating the tsuba design into my spinning top was inspired by the unique use of the tsuba form by the Greene brothers in their bungalow architecture. The tsuba design is often correlated with nature, water, and heaven.
