Surrounded by calming colors like shades of lavendar and blue, and pieces of inspiration such as the framed Peter Pan concept art by Mary Blair or the Up artwork on the desktops by Joey Chou, this space would inspire Disney-nostalgia and a childlike wonder - all conveniently located in downtown Seattle.
Challenged to come up with an original design for a piece of modern furniture, I decided to create a teacup loveseat, inspired by my love of Disney's Alice in Wonderland and the sculptural works of Claes Oldenburg. Playing with the idea of scale, I modeled a large teacup big enough to comfortably fit one person, acting as both a cool conversation piece as well as a cozy reading corner. Complete with sugar cube ottomans, a tea bag pillow in English Breakfast Brown, and glass bookshelves for storing books, snacks, or size-changing beverages, this seat is the perfect mixture of quirky and class.
The chair was modeled in Rhino and Vectorworks, then rendered using Artlantis. Dimensional drawings were also done using Vectorworks.
